The challenge
Project Overview
This renovation project at Heritage Rise in St Heliers involved the complete upgrade of three separate bathrooms: a family bathroom, an ensuite, and a guest bathroom. Each space was designed to meet different needs while maintaining a consistent look and feel across the home. The homeowners wanted modern finishes, improved functionality, and a bright, clean look that would age well over time. Our team worked closely with the client to plan, design, and deliver each bathroom with precision and care.
The result is three beautifully renovated bathrooms, each with its own purpose but sharing the same high standard of craftsmanship and design.
The solution
Family Bathroom Highlights
The family bathroom this Heritage Rise home was designed with everyday functionality in mind, without compromising on modern style. This space had to accommodate multiple users, so our focus was on creating a layout that felt open, easy to clean, and durable under daily use. We installed a generous walk-in shower with a frameless glass panel, giving the room a clean and seamless flow. A recessed wall niche inside the shower provides practical storage for soaps and shampoos, keeping surfaces clear and reducing clutter. The shower features a matte black rain head and handheld shower rail, adding both style and flexibility for users of all ages.
For storage and usability, we included a floating vanity with soft-close drawers, providing ample space for bathroom essentials while keeping the floor area clear. The wall-mounted mixer tap and white vessel basin create a clean and minimalist look that pairs well with the neutral tones of the tiles and cabinetry. A full-width mirror above the vanity helps bounce light around the room, making it feel brighter and more spacious.
The tile choice was especially important. We used large-format porcelain tiles in soft stone shades to create a sense of calm and make the space appear larger. The floors and walls were tiled for durability and ease of maintenance—perfect for a family environment. To keep the look consistent with the rest of the home, matte black fixtures were used throughout the space, offering a modern contrast to the light finishes.
Smart lighting completes the room, with recessed ceiling lights and subtle accent lighting at the vanity to ensure visibility for tasks like grooming and makeup application. The result is a bathroom that is practical, easy to maintain, and stylish enough to blend in with the home's overall design theme.
This family bathroom is a perfect example of how thoughtful planning and quality workmanship can deliver a room that meets daily functional needs while still feeling polished and visually appealing.
Ensuite Shower Room Highlights
The ensuite bathroom renovation at this home was designed to provide a private and relaxing space for the homeowners. Unlike the family bathroom, this room focuses more on comfort and personal use, with a layout that enhances space efficiency and visual harmony. The main feature is a frameless walk-in shower fitted with a matte black rain head and rail shower system, offering both a luxurious experience and practical use. A recessed twin shower niche was built into the wall for convenient storage, keeping the design sleek and the surfaces uncluttered.
To complement the clean lines of the shower, we installed a floating vanity unit finished in a warm timber tone, adding contrast and texture to the otherwise soft, neutral colour palette. The vanity features an integrated basin and wall-mounted mixer, ensuring ease of cleaning and a tidy benchtop. A large rectangular mirror above the vanity helps reflect light, creating an airy, spacious feel within the compact ensuite footprint. The mirror also adds depth to the room, enhancing the open feel despite the smaller floor space.
The walls and floors are finished with large-format porcelain tiles in natural stone tones, chosen for their timeless appeal and water-resistant properties. These tiles flow seamlessly from wall to floor, making the space feel cohesive and well-balanced. The soft hues also help to reflect both natural and artificial light, ensuring the room never feels dark or confined.
Subtle lighting was added to highlight key areas, with ceiling downlights providing general illumination and focused task lighting above the vanity. Combined with the clean tile lines and modern fittings, the lighting helps define the room’s contemporary character while keeping it warm and welcoming.
This ensuite shower room now delivers a sense of calm and retreat for the homeowners. It’s a space where functionality meets personal comfort—perfect for starting the day or winding down in the evening. The design and execution showcase how a smaller bathroom can still feel spacious, elegant, and highly functional when every element is carefully considered.
Guest Bathroom Highlights
The guest bathroom was designed to be simple, elegant, and welcoming—offering comfort to visitors while maintaining the overall design consistency seen throughout the home. Although compact in size, the space was carefully planned to include all essential features without feeling cramped or overfilled. The layout maximises functionality, allowing guests to move comfortably while enjoying a clean and thoughtfully styled environment.
At the heart of the room is a space-efficient floating vanity with an integrated basin and wall-mounted mixer, keeping the benchtop clear and easy to clean. The vanity provides just enough storage for guest essentials while maintaining a sleek, uncluttered appearance. Above it, a slimline mirror enhances brightness and gives the room a greater sense of depth—an important element in a smaller bathroom.
The walk-in shower features a frameless glass panel that keeps the space open and visually light. Inside the shower, we included a built-in wall niche for storing toiletries, keeping everything accessible without intruding into the limited space. As with the other bathrooms in the home, we used matte black fittings for a cohesive look. The shower area is finished with the same high-quality, large-format tiles used in the family and ensuite bathrooms, ensuring continuity in design and easy maintenance.
Lighting in the guest bathroom was carefully considered. Overhead LED downlights provide even illumination throughout the space, while subtle vanity lighting makes the room comfortable and easy to use at any time of day. Soft, neutral tile colours paired with clean white fixtures help maintain a fresh and inviting atmosphere, giving guests a sense of comfort and care.
Although the smallest of the three bathrooms, this guest space reflects the same level of detail and design quality as the rest of the home. It’s a functional, stylish room that complements the home's overall aesthetic and provides a great experience for any guest staying over or visiting.
Consistent Design Across All Bathrooms
Throughout the renovation, our team focused on consistency in colour, finishes, and materials. By repeating key design elements like matte black tapware, floating vanities, and large-format tiles, we created a seamless flow from one bathroom to the next. Each space stands on its own while clearly belonging to the same home.
The homeowners were especially pleased with how each bathroom meets the needs of its specific user—whether it’s daily family use, private relaxation, or accommodating guests—while still reflecting the overall aesthetic of their home.
