Full Luxury Bathroom Renovations
A full luxury renovation from us suits a main bathroom being rebuilt around a bath, a walk-in shower and a double vanity at the same time.
Everything comes back to the framing. The finishes are chosen before the waterproofing membrane goes down, because stone, heated floors and wall-hung fittings each change what sits under them.
Bring photos of bathrooms you like to the site visit. They set the scope faster than a list.
Freestanding Bath Installation
Freestanding baths we install need a waste position set in the floor before tiling, a floor that can carry the filled weight, and space around the bath to clean.
An acrylic bath suits most floors. A stone or cast bath needs Nick to check the floor structure first, and a floor-mounted bath filler needs its pipes in place before the waterproofing membrane goes down.
Measure the bath you like before the visit.
Walk-In Showers and Wet Rooms
Our walk-in showers and wet rooms suit anyone who wants no step, no tray and one continuous tiled floor.
The floor falls to a linear or centre waste, and in a wet room the waterproofing membrane covers the whole floor. A tiled wet-area shower needs a building consent in Auckland, and Nick issues the PS3 for the waterproofing.

Stone and Large-Format Porcelain
Stone and large-format porcelain are the finishes we plan earliest, because both need a flatter substrate than standard tile.
Porcelain panels leave fewer grout lines to clean. Natural stone needs sealing and reacts to acidic cleaners, so it suits owners happy to care for it.
Bring a sample or the supplier name to the site visit.
Underfloor Heating and Heated Towel Rails
Underfloor heating dries the floor after a shower and takes the chill off tiles in an Auckland winter, and we lay the heating mat under the tiles as part of the build.
Alchemy's electrician connects it to its own thermostat and issues a Certificate of Compliance for the wiring.
Decide at the site visit whether you want timers on the floor and the towel rail. The controls go in with the wiring.
Double Vanities and Designer Tapware
Double vanities in our luxury bathrooms need two wastes and two sets of supplies planned from the start, plus wall space for two mirrors and two lights.
Designer tapware, thermostatic mixers and rain heads are often made for mains-pressure hot water.
If your house has a low-pressure hot water cylinder, say so at the visit. It decides the tapware or the cylinder.

How a Luxury Bathroom Renovation Runs With Alchemy
Five steps, with the orders placed early so imported pieces do not hold up the build.
1. Free Luxury Bathroom Site Visit
Nick measures the bathroom, looks at the floor structure, the hot water system and the drainage, and tells you which parts of the job are likely to need a building consent. Bring photos, samples or product links.
2. Fixture Schedule and Written Quote
The layout, the fixture schedule and the finishes are settled first. The quote then lists every trade, every fixture and the build order.
3. Orders and Strip-Out
Imported tapware, stone and baths are ordered first, because their lead times set the start date. Then the bathroom comes back to the framing and any damaged framing is replaced.
4. Heating, Waterproofing and Tiling
The heating mat and pipework go in, the waterproofing membrane goes on and cures, and then the stone or porcelain is laid. On a consented job Nick issues the PS3.
5. Fit-Out, Handover and Guarantee
The bath, vanities, tapware, glass and lighting go in last. You walk the finished bathroom with Nick, and the waterproofing carries Alchemy's 15-year guarantee from that day.

Natural stone costs more to buy, cut, seal and handle than porcelain. Large porcelain panels need two people and a flatter floor.

An acrylic freestanding bath drops straight in. A stone or cast bath can need floor strengthening and more hands to carry it upstairs.
Heated floors

Hot Water, Heated Floors and Heavy Baths in Auckland Homes
The Building Code limits hot water from a residential basin, bath or shower to 50°C, and building.govt.nz guidance on preventing scalding also requires the hot water cylinder to sit at 60°C or more to control legionella. A tempering valve on the hot supply bridges the two. Designer tapware and thermostatic mixers work best on mains-pressure hot water, so Nick checks the cylinder and the valve at the site visit before you choose a mixer.
Underfloor heating is fixed wiring. A registered electrician has to issue a Certificate of Compliance for it no later than 20 days after finishing the work, and Alchemy's electrician hands it over with the bathroom.
Auckland homes differ in what sits under the bathroom floor. At the 2023 Census, 94.3% of occupied homes in Wynyard-Viaduct were joined dwellings such as apartments and townhouses, against 8.2% in Glendowie North. A stone bath full of water puts its weight on a small footprint. In an apartment, an upstairs bathroom or a room above a neighbour, Nick checks the floor structure and the body corporate rules before the bath is chosen.
